How to Order a Saginaw Crash Report
Short answer: Saginaw Police Department crash reports, like all Texas police crash reports, are sold online through TxDOT CRIS. A copy is $6; a certified copy is $8. Officers have up to 10 days to submit the report, so check back if it isn't there yet.
Steps
- Wait several days after the crash; officers have 10 days to file (§550.062).
- Go to the TxDOT CRIS purchase site.
- Search by crash date and county (Tarrant for Saginaw) plus a name, report number or vehicle details. The user guide shows each screen.
- Choose regular ($6) or certified ($8) and pay. Card fees may apply; ACH payments are held 10 days (Transp. Code §550.065).
When a report is required
Officers must file a CR-3 for crashes involving injury, death, or $1,000 or more in apparent damage. If no officer came, ask the Saginaw Police Department about filing a report. If your crash was outside the city, for example on I-35W in Fort Worth, another agency may have written it, but it's still sold through CRIS. TxDOT's crash reports page has more.
Check it for mistakes
Look at names, plates, insurers, the narrative and the diagram. Report any errors to your lawyer, because insurers read the report closely.
